Maybe to play through it once, just to see it, and then turn it off. For me, it bogs the game down too much already to have to babysit individual domes on one game field, and adding multiple such fields in parallel, and needing to transition between them, only multiplies that problem. Choose a space agency for resources and financial support before determining a location for your colony. In my opinion, the closest the DLC seems to come to being worthwhile is in the novel environments, but the need to simultaneously pay attention to several different "main" game fields (your surface base, your subsurface base, and any asteroids you're currently mining) is just a killer, having to transition between them constantly. Surviving Mars is a sci-fi city builder all about colonizing Mars and surviving the process. This is especially troubling while the game continues to rely upon mod support to do even basic things right, like getting children to spread out evenly across multiple school domes instead of overflowing one while the others are empty, or prompting colonists to try to sort themselves out such that their residences and their jobs are in the same dome, instead of requiring the player to manually direct individual colonists to do this seemingly simple autonomous task in a permanent, unrewarding grind. I am not that person, and in fact find much about those elements introduced to be actively distracting and disruptive and off-putting. Surviving Mars expands with Below and Beyond DLC releasing Sept. I cannot believe the developers released this mess and I'm pissed that I paid $20 for it.Basically, if you're the sort of person who really likes micromanagement, and is comfortable with your attention being split across several "main" game fields simultaneously, and find superficially novel environments to be entertaining, by all means, go for it. It's rare that I give a 0 out of 10 rating to something, but it's also rare that a DLC is so terribly made that it actually breaks the base game, even if you don't use the new content. It's incredibly demoralizing to sink hours into a play-through of this game only to have one of these bugs ruin it. Size: 8. Both of these options eventually send you to a screen where you choose what you load. You click on the rocket and have the options Edit Payload and Visit Asteroid. When you have a rocket on mars you have two options. ![]() These include things like lakes turning the entire map into water, drone getting stuck doing nothing so that important tasks are never completed, demolished buildings leaving behind bugged assets that prevent building new buildings in the same place, crisis event not updating properly, weather issues, and many more. Long version first, followed by short version below. Unfortunately the "Below & Beyond" DLC introduces a ton of new bugs to the base game which range from the annoying to the game breaking. ![]() These include things like lakes turning the entire map into water, drone getting stuck doing nothing so that important tasks are never completed, demolished buildings leaving behind bugged assets that prevent building new I absolutely love Surviving Mars.
